New sustainable fixation for Alveosport: welding replaces tape
Adligenswil, Switzerland, October 2025 - Sekisui Alveo, European manufacturer of high-quality polyolefin foams, announces the launch of a new hot-air welding machine that redefines how Alveosport shockpad lanes are joined beneath artificial turf. Developed in close collaboration with the Swiss engineering partner BAK Technology AG, replacing adhesive tape with a faster, cleaner, and more sustainable fixation method becomes a reality.
From kilometres of tape to zero waste
Until now, installing Alveosport shockpads required more than 5 kilometres of adhesive tape for a single full-size football pitch. This can be changed now by welding the lanes directly together with hot air — eliminating foreign materials, simplifying recycling, and reducing on-site waste.
Smart configuration
The innovative device with two hot-air blowers is capable of welding over 5 kilometres of Alveosport in less than one day, perfect for large sports fields.
The two hot-air blowers are mounted on a specially designed handheld device that aligns, pulls, and presses adjacent lanes together, producing a strong, homogeneous joint that holds reliably.

Proven readiness
Internal testing at Sekisui Alveo's Application Service Laboratory (ASL) has confirmed that the new welding solution is fully ready for market introduction, offering clear advantages:
