Sealing tapes improve energy efficiency in buildings

Polyolefin foams as a cost-effective alternative

Lucerne / Düsseldorf 24 October 2007 – Energy is getting more and more expensive. For that reason, architects and engineers are designing new buildings in such a way as to minimise future energy requirements. In older buildings, attempts are often made to reduce energy consumption by applying additional insulation. Often, however, the weak points are inadequately sealed doors and windows. Even in large building complexes such as factories or offices that are built using so-called sandwich construction panels, the gaps between the panels are critical with regard to insulation. Sekisui Alveo, manufacturer of polyolefin foams, has developed special solutions for sealing applications in the construction industry – one of them is Alveo-Soft. The Adhesive Coating Business Unit also offers a range of adhesive tapes, such as the extremely thin Alveolit UTF 200.
