Efficient flat absorber with Alveocel polyolefin foam by Sekisui Alveo in sports car applications

Lucerne/Frankfurt, September 13, 2011 – Despite advanced development, motor noise of diesels is considered prominent. Still, especially in the upper and luxury class, vehicle noise in the passenger compartment should be as low as possible, even when the driving gets sporty. That's why carmakers place great value on an efficient absorber system. For a sports limousine equipped with a high performance diesel motor, Röchling Automotive developed an additional absorber and sought a suitable material to cover a broad frequency range. The company found the material at Sekisui Alveo, manufacturer of polyolefin foams: The micro-perforated foam Alveocel offers exceptional acoustic efficiency. Used in flat absorbers with multiple foam layers, Alveocel optimally reduces diesel motor noise and thereby provides the desired acoustic quality in the vehicle interior.
