Sekisui Alveo was founded in 1971 as a joint venture with Swiss and Japanese shareholders. Since 1973 the company has been solely owned by Sekisui Chemical Company Ltd. in Japan. The head office of Sekisui Alveo is located in Lucerne, Switzerland; area offices are in the key European markets and a satellite office is in South America. The company operates three production plants in Roermond, Netherlands, in Bad Sobernheim, Germany and Merthyr Tydfil, UK. Sekisui Alveo employs about 450 people.

Sekisui Alveo is part of Sekisui Chemical Company, one of the largest chemical companies in the world. Besides the three plants in Europe, Sekisui operates three manufacturing plants in Japan, two in the USA, and one each in Australia, China, South Korea, and Thailand.
