Recyclable polyolefin foams support CO2-reduction and ensure more comfort in automobiles

Lucerne / Düsseldorf, 24 October 2007 – Automobile manufacturers face a dilemma: the order of the day is to save weight, thereby reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emission. On the other hand, nobody wants to do without safety systems or the convenience of navigation systems, air conditioning and other comforts. However, these increase the total weight of a vehicle. Sekisui Alveo, manufacturer of polyolefin foams, provides interesting solutions with enormous weight saving potential: the foams Alveolen and Alveolit can easily replace many hard plastic components in vehicles, thereby saving up to 82 percent in weight. Therefore these flyweights not only contribute to CO2 reduction but also ensure more comfort and efficient acoustic damping.
